Volunteer Opportunities

Enhance your VWIPC experience by becoming a volunteer. You will meet young artists from around the world as well as play a vital role in this unique musical event.You will meet other like minded people who love music and love helping nurture young talented pianists.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS - The organization is run by a volunteer Board of Directors.  There is the General Board that meets twice a year; and there is the Executive Committee that meets 10 times a year and sets policy for the VWIPC and gives direction to the staff.

VOLUNTEER COMMITTEES:

THE BLACK AND WHITE BALL - This committee plans and organizes the elegant Black and White Ball, the annual major fundraiser for the VWIPC.  The Black and White Ball is one of the highlights of the area's social season.  Attendees receive hosted cocktails and hors d'oeuvres; a scrumptious 4 course dinner and wonderful entertainment and dancing. 

SPEAKERS' BUREAU - Tell other groups about our wonderful contestants and winners, and the work that the VWIPC does to enrich the community.  Encourage others to get involved as volunteers and supporters.

OFFICE - Clerical support, filing, answering telephones, helping with mailings, greeting and escorting contestants around the venues during the competition.

FUNDRAISING / DEVELOPMENT - help us bring in the funds to support the competition that brings such enriching culture to our valley.

PUBLICITY / MARKETING - graphic design, layout, printing, press releases, press kits, photos

HOUSING - host contestants in your home during the competition. Junior and Intermediate contestants come with one parent - time committment: 3-7 days. Senior contestants - time committment: 3-14 days.  Homes with pianos so the contestants can practice are preferred, but not essential.

JUDGES' MEALS - entertain world renowned competition judges either in your home, at your club or at a restaurant of your choosing.

TRANSLATORS - Foreign language translators are needed to help international contestants who may not speak English.

TRANSPORTATION - provide transportation for judges and contestants.
