There are two parts to this application:

a) the Application Cover which must be mailed in to the office with all accompanying materials  and

b) the application itself which can either be submitted online (see below) OR printed out and mailed in with the application cover.

Please note that the online application is a ONE-STEP process. Once you start you must complete the process. There is no way to save data to the online application.  We recommend you print out the application form and review  it before applying and submitting your application online. This is the only way to have a copy of what you submitted online.

SOLO:

75 minutes of diversified repertoire, including either the Second or Third Sonata by Ernst Krenek.

CONCERTO COMPETITIONS:

One COMPLETE concerto or standard work for solo piano and orchestra plus solo repertoire above
Note: all finalists will perform with orchestra; First round will have a 20 minute time limit and will be played with second accompaniment.

PIANO QUINTET:
Twelve pianists from Solo Round I will be selected to perform the first movement of the Quintet of their choice (from the list given in Repertoire & Competition Requirements) with a professional string quartet.

MASTER CLASSES:
Any work originally scored for solo piano. Use format above to list repertory.

APPLICANT AGREEMENT:
I declare that the information submitted in my application to the Virginia Waring International Piano Competition [the Competition] is complete and truthful. If accepted as a contestant in the competition, I shall abide by all rules and regulations of the Competition. The Competition reserves the right, without payment of fees to record and distribute recordings for media and other purposes and televise, broadcast, film, record, videotape or photograph all stages of the Competition, all prize performances and concerts. If I receive an award in the Competition, I shall honor all commitments resulting from the award made on my behalf by the Competition. I will give recognition of that award in all future publicity. I also understand that my application is not complete until payment and all required materials are received by VWIPC.
